i have not forgotten about my lovely little space, i was just out enjoying life and the new seasons that it brings. lately, i have been spending time doing the things that make me happy, here are just a few of those things. 

loving: feeling Fall in the air, drinking my morning coffee on the balcony, wearing scarfs, the way i talk to Roy.

eating: ham and cheese sandwiches with egg and avocado, homemade lemon bars, eggs with avocado.

watching: The Newsroom and reruns of Gilmore Girls.

listening: tunes from my college years including Ryan Adams and Copeland.

reading: The Magic of Thinking Big. one word: incredible

thinking about: ways to best organize my apartment.

making me happy: dreaming about what my dream home would look like.

i believe the more we visualize our dreams and goals the more likely we will be at achieving them. with that thought in mind i went online fearless to find inspiration and things that someday i would like the own. i want to point out that material gain does not always produce happiness, but i do believe in visualizing your dreams so you can see beyond your obstacles.

these are just a few things that caught my eyes while browsing.

making a directional switch

over the weekend Jordan and i got to spend time with my brother and his fiance that we have not seen in a month. i can't believe we waited that long to get together! so on Sunday they came over after church for some awesome chili; we had a great time catching up and talking. 

also over the weekend, Jordan and i talked about where we wanted to be a year from now, even six months from now in our lives. let me just say that there have been a lot of things changing around here, mainly taking our careers in a different direction which is exciting and scary at the same time. 

but i think that any change is good, we just allow our minds to think of all the negative things that "could" happen as a result and therefore we get scared. well, together Jordan and i are fearless in making this directional switch and we could not be more blessed and excited about it.

sweet getaway

last week Jordan and i went out on an ice cream date! we both had been busy and feeling lousy all week that we needed a small getaway to reconnect. we talked outside the ice cream shop while diligently licking our ice cream before it melted onto our hands. 

i am a little sad that we didn't go out for more ice cream dates this summer, but i know we will be intentional about spending more time together to reconnect as we move into Fall. i can't wait!

living in community

so far this week has been awesome! Jordan and i have been working on being intentional about living in community so we joined a small discussion group at our church for the month of August. i could not be more excited to meet new people and talk about the the Word and the specific topic we will be covering.

on top of that, Jordan and i are in a challenge discussion group with our mentors which has been so refreshing. the Lord is really working in our hearts and lives and i could not be more excited. 

also, i re-joined the choir and volunteered to help in the nursery occasionally. i hope i am not overcommitting myself, but at the same time we both agreed that people thrive and learn in community so we want to be more involved.

i am so blessed and grateful for all these opportunities and look forward to see what the Lord will do in them. 

other than being super stoked about community, i have been working on a few projects at home and taking care of my growing to-do list. but with this renewed motivation to live intentionally i see beauty and a learning opportunity in even the most mundane of activities.

pick list for August::building a better wardrobe

last Saturday my mom and i ventured into the newly renovated Forever 21 at our local mall during our semi-weekly shopping trips. and my goodness, all the sparkling chandeliers and glistening tables made my girly self very happy. i didn't use to shop here because the last location was so small and everything was crammed onto fixtures that i found myself digging a lot with no results. 

well, all that has changed. i am pretty sure at some point during our visit i announced to my mom that i will be shopping here exclusively from now on. i absolutely adored everything in that store.

so in an attempt to build myself a better wardrobe i created a clothes budget plan, to pace myself from buying everything at once, and an inspirational collection of pieces, so i can be intentional when shopping. 

the above are items from Forever 21 that i would like to purchase at some point. 

1:: when i tried on this shirt i realized i needed more grown-up looking clothes in my wardrobe.

2:: these jeans are the only item from this list not from Forever 21, they are Celebrity Pink Jeans i spotted while working at Macy's. i have always wanted colored jeans, so i am waiting for them to go on sale. i might even get a pair in rose pink as well.

3:: i love wedges, my favorite hands down. i don't have a nude pair yet.

4:: i like both these jewelry pieces because of the geometrical quality they both showcase.

5:: i have always been a girl with way too much pink lip gloss :)

so excited to save and build my wardrobe this Fall!

working to music

photo::my "work" shoes. i do a lot of walking.

my job allows me to listen to music while i work most of the time, so i usually listen to sermons from my church. the songs that my retailer plays are not bad but they can get a little repetitive.

whenever i work in juniors i sometimes hear this song and i always find myself humming the chorus. i am normally alone in that department doing my thing so i will really get into the music.

it's one of those close-your-eyes-and-just-get-lost kind of songs.

well, i finally found it streaming. it makes me happy.

santa claus, IN

last Saturday Jordan and i road-tripped with my family to visit Holiday World. it has become an unofficial annual tradition of sorts. we had a great time wondering around the water park even though there were a stupid amount of people and we only went on three water rides.

i enjoyed the atmosphere and the food and the chance to get away. Jordan did manage to go on the biggest wooden roller coaster while i admired the ride from the ground with a soft pretzel in hand.

i look forward to next year.

these past two weeks i have been busy with work, family events, appointments, and gatherings with friends. on a side note, i have become addicted to avocado and my herb plant is looking great!

happiness in July

i have been so blessed with an amazing family and the opportunity to spend quality time with them so often. we did a lot of family events together this month and it has been the best of times.
this month has really gone by so fast, but so full of great memories.
