blue skies ahead

just some of the sweet simple memories from may and part of april.
this month has been by far one of the most fruitful, and beautiful months of the year; not kidding.

so excited for june and what the future holds. nothing but blue skies ahead. i am so thankful; glory to God alone.

June is just a few days away and that means my one year wedding anniversary is almost here! we are very excited for what we have planned.

the perfect cookout

on sunday we took a little trip to sheridian IN to visit some friends of my in-laws. these are family friends that Jordan and his parents have known for more than 15 years. dear friends, as my mother-in-law would call them. and i like them a lot too.

the cookout was hosted in the cutest country home, which was built just a few years ago. the house sits in front of a wide creek surrounded by lots of gardens, fields, and open space. the temperature hit over ninety degrees, but by evening there was a beautiful breeze; it was the perfect cookout. 

we had a good, relaxing holiday weekend.

for the next few days you will find me hanging out with family, cooking great food, laying by the pool, and spending time with my sweet husband.

let your garden grow...for more than two weeks.

i want to get into gardening, i really do. the problem is i don't have a yard, just a balcony; so Jordan got me a hanging basket and flowers for my patio. but, i hate to say, with the hot weather and lack of habit, they withered and died. i think i had them two weeks?

i am not a plant killer, really, i am not. i am just not in the habit of taking care of them and going out to check on them. and like with any skill i wish to acquire i need to practice and work at it. 

so i hope to start a small herb garden. with these helpful  tips (see here and here), and of course advice from my mom, i know i  will be well on my way to accomplishing a skill that i never thought i would enjoy; the art of caring for your garden.

p.s. these pictures are from my dads garden. i love it when he gets excited about seedlings and starts showing me what each sprout will end up being. he is the cutest.

poolside and sunshine

summer is officially around the corner! on sunday my mom and i spent an afternoon by the pool. it was my first pool day of the season and it was gorgeous. 

speaking of laying out, sunburn is kinda a big deal to me, i know, weird. i don't like the burn, the peel, the awful tan lines...pretty much the whole thing. (you can tell i had a bad experience once and vowed never again). so all spring and summer long i carry SPF with me. i put it on even when i am driving because your left arm is more exposed! anyway...my SPF needs were covered.

i am just going to say it, (because i care), it doesn't matter the SPF number, only how often you reapply. so if you slap 80SPF on once it won't protect you as much in continued exposure as opposed to wearing 30SPF reapplied every two hours. okay, i had to get that out there. now you all know my freakish need to be covered in SPF all summer long.

on a side note, fair skin is beautiful.

Freedom Sale

saturday was the most perfect day for a garage sale. with the help of my little brother, his fiance, and some friends, we transformed my dad's garage into a fully functional sale. this was my first garage sale that i was actively involved with and i loved every minute of the preparation; little did i know all the work it takes!

i was also very proud to be a part of this sale because all the profits went to charity. the organization is called IJM (International Justice Mission) which aids in stopping human trafficking around the world. every person who made a purchase received a flyer with additional detailed information.

i was so proud of my future sister-in-law for her active involvement in this initiative. she is part of a group of girls who meet monthly to stratigize ways to make a difference in the lives of girls they will never meet. i truly admire her!

needless to say it was a very successful day.
i was also successful in purging my apartment for things to donate. it's a great feeling.

this week...

we have been house sitting. as a result, i have been catching up on a lot of things; like laundry, blogging, bills, etc. i guess there is something about a change of scenery to really get you motivated. we go back to our home today and i am taking my motivation and putting it toward cleaning. it's been a nice little break.

 roy had a fun car ride, Jordan and i went out for lunch, and i have just been chilling here after working early mornings.

pretty things for your home

right now we are in the process of re decorating our apartment. i have really enjoyed creating a cozy place to call home. here are just a few of the items that i would love to add.

1:: felt pom poms, just adorable.

2:: i plan on painting various picture frames pink and covering an entire wall with them. i am pretty excited.

3:: love this rug for our kitchen.

4:: the perfect create for above my fridge.

it's no worries wednesday around here so Jordan and i had ourselves a lazy day. it was great.
